Even the Critics Came Out Flat This Week

You know that final, ugly phase of any bad relationship where all the interactions between you and the soon-to-be-ex follow one of a number of well-worn patterns?  When every conversation starts out like a marble rolling along a pointy-peaked hill and you know it's only a matter of time before it plunges off into a depressing, oft-traveled valley?  So a disagreement about lost keys inevitably turns into an argument about one person spending too much money and the other hanging out too often with his friends?

Well that's what sports criticism is like in Philadelphia.  The same lame, tired old critiques come out after every bad loss.

And there is no critique more lame or more tired than the idea that what's "wrong" with Andy Reid is that he is boring in press conferences, says the same things every time and refuses to call out any underperforming players.

Here's a good exampleAnd another oneAnd here.

Plenty more like that elsewhere.

Look, I spent most of yesterday afternoon screaming at the TV "Run the @#%^$ ball" (Mom, don't click that link) so I'm certainly not going to suggest that Reid should get a free pass here.

But enough already with the stupid criticism of his press conferences.  On the list of issues this team has, Reid's performance at the podium is #17,826.  So stop being lazy and come up with some new material.

The way this season is going, we're gonna need it.

The complaints about Reid not running the ball is about as tiring as the complaints about his lack of explanations in his press conferences. He's not going to do either. That's why this team has trouble trying to eat clock when they're ahead, that's why when the weather is unfavorable, it's to their disadvantage, especially to a team like Jacksonville who can run. He may make a token attempt in the next game or two to run the ball, but it won't last. We've already been through this with him. I mean when i'm looking at the weather forecast on friday and thinking, geez I hope the Eagles game plan accordingly, and then we see what we saw on sunday, everything speaks for itself. He's just plain stubborn. It's not gonna happen. As far as Andy not being forthcoming about antything, I wish the media would just boycott his press conferences.
Usually I'm one to hate a bye week ocming off a loss and having to suffer for two weeks waiting for the next game, but I think this is as good as time as any. For the players, coaches and yes, even the fans. How much more suffering can we take? Let's hope they can regroup and come back with some fire. There's too many veterans on this team, it's time to put some foots up people's asses.
It would be nice if they made more of an effort to run the ball no doubt, but it would also be nice if the receivers could catch it when they do have the chance.
