Hell of a Season

Heck of an effort. Congratulations New Orleans. Best of luck next week.

(Only one comment: Why did Jim Johnson not go to a goalline defense at the end of the game?)

bye eagles bye

Yeah bye Eagles bye, but our season didn't go down like an avalanche like the Cowboys and Giants, who were supposed to be making their Superbowl runs this year and were, well to put it simply, both horrible teams when the season ended. Undoubtedly, that comment posted above me was that of a Cowboys or Giants fan. The Eagles can hold their heads high, they fought to the end against a well rested, talented opponent who has an outstanding coach.
There's questions about some of the Eagles moves during the game. First off, why did they feel the need to punt on 4th and 15 after they completed a 20-25 yard pass on 4th and 10? Of course that's hindsight and if the defense would've made a stop and used their two timeouts they would've been in a postion to have Westbrook return a punt and even if worse case scenario, there would've been time to get into game tying field goal range. He punted, I don't understand it, I didn't understand when he did it, but it's not like he just gave the game away, there was a chance to get the ball back with reasonable time to get into FG range.
Why, if the Eagles were going to punt and give the ball to the Saints offense didn't they go on an all out goal line defense as was suggested in this blog, boggles my mind. If you're going to give up the ball and try and get it back, knowing the Saints are going to run the ball, you have to send 9-10 guys through the offensive line and make plays in the backfield. Especially on 3rd and 1, at the end of the game. If the Saints have the balls to do a play action or roll the QB back at that point, then so be it, that's the game, but in that situation you had to send everyone all out.
People are going to kill Andy for punting, and I'm not too pleased with it, but the Saints coach got away with some things also. Remember they had the ball with the lead in the 4th quarter and passed 3 times, I thought Andy Reid was calling their plays, then the unbelievable decision to have Brees pitch the ball to Bush, was almost the miracle at the meadowlands revisited in New Orleans. So Sean Payton got away with some things too remember, and should feel very fortunate that he had a chance to redeem himself.
If you're going to cry about the refs giving the Saints the game, then you're wrong again, if they wanted to do that, they could've given the Saints a TD on that Hail Mary play to end the first half. Believe me, I wasn't happy with all the calls, and thought they were some questionable flags, or non flags for that matter, but I'm looking at the game from a biased view. The refs didn't lose that game, the Saints won it. The Saints and the Eagles both seemed reluctant to take the game if you think about it.
I hope the Eagles can build on what happened this year, and use Westbrook as an every down back. I'm not worried so much about their offense, but their defense needs help. Remember the Eagles rolled off a nice winning streak and their offensive ball control helped mask alot of problems with the defense, but they did get gashed the last two weeks, by Barber and Deuce. Not only that, Reggie Bush was weaving in and out of their defense, making them look foolish quite frankly. Sorry, I love Trotter, but he's the middle linebacker, and teams were running through the middle fairly easy. I trust the Eagles can address their problems, and that's a ways, off.
GO PHILLIES!!!!!!!!!!
PS Did anyone see that hot blonde with the Fuck da Eagles shirt. My goodness, I love her. Good luck to the Saints, and my heart goes out to her and what she's been through down there. Oh wait, it's doubtful she lives anywhere near the hurricane area, but God Bless her hot little soul anyways.

here's a little thing I did. A message to Cowboys fans, a recap of everything. I'm linking part 3, there's two other parts to this, but I get on a pretty good roll by the 3rd part, so if you like that, check out the other 2.
