Weirdest Season Ever

Ok, so that sucked.  For many reasons.  I realize that.  You realize that.  Andy Reid realizes that.

But, as my brother just pointed out to me ... http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/standings

And they're not updated yet, but come Monday when they are, here are the official NFL playoff standings.

How weird is that?  Even after the inevitable butt whupping coming next weekend at the hands of the Patriots, the Eagles are still going to be right in the middle of the playoff race this year.

And yeah, they're not winning the Super Bowl this year.  So you can be one of those fans who doesn't get any enjoyment out of anything but a ring.  Or you can enjoy the moment and ride it as long as it lasts.

That isn't to say we should all be happy-dappy about today.  That game sucked.  Honestly, if DirecTV has to pick a game to screw out of the HD treatment, well then they might made the right choice today.

It looked a lot like last year's gift to a rookie QB against Tampa Bay.

But AJ played well enough to win and the offensive coaches finally realized that just giving the ball to Westbrook every down until the other team stopped them was probably a pretty good choice all along.

We'll revisit a lot of this stuff later -- including examining a McNabb absence that looked kinda ... sorta ... benchish -- but for now, a win's a win, the Cowboys are losing to the 'skins (which I shouldn't be rooting for but screw it) and the season is still alive.

For now.

bullshit. mcnabb was NOT benched. they knew they were going to win against a bad team. i am so tired of his mcnabb hatred. he had a bad first half, yes. he has gotten better everey game this year, though, and can win us a super bowl if we give him the weapons. let's move on.

Detroit is in the last spot right now, one game ahead of the Eagles (who have the tie breaker). Two teams, Arizona and Washington, have the same record. That's it.

We are hanging around, however meekly.

You got me, JPK. McNabb hater through and through.

I couldn't watch the game but I saw the highlights. Man, what a play by Juqua. That was fine.

So what's the deal with Kearse being on the inactive list? Has he pissed off someone on the coaching staff or is he really hurt? I'm surprised a bigger deal was not made of this, but I guess that's testament to how far Kearse's star has fallen. I for one hope he's able to get back out there and make some plays for the Eagles this season.

At the very least we could use him on special teams!

Why "inevitable" the beating next weekend at the hands of New England.

It's true that the birds are going nowhere, and doing nothing.

BUT, ............. BUT there is ONE thing they could do to redeem this season of theirs, and that's take down the New England team that defeated them in the Super Bowl.

I think this may be the first time they've met them since that Super Bowl.

WIN that game, lose every other, ...... but win that single game, and this season will have been redeemed.

I think I'd rather they beat Dallas, Dan (not like we have anything to do with it.)

I was at the game today. I'm usually a "win's a win" guy, but this was probably the least enjoyable win I can ever remember.

The ONE problem with the Birds that I ALWAYS had was that you NEVER knew from game to game, which Eagle team was going to show up.

Was it going to be the world beaters?

Or was it going to be the beagles?

That lack of consistency drove me crazy.
