Thumbs Down, But Not to McNabb
THUMBS DOWN: To Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, who just won't let up with his "nobody knows the criticism I've seen" act. When asked at his Wednesday news conference how he thinks he will be welcomed by the crowd on Sunday, McNabb said: "It's really none of my concern. I can't waste my energy worrying about how people feel about me. A lot of you have written articles to get me out of here, and I'm still here. I'm interested to see the reaction of how you guys go [write] after this wonderful [news] conference.'' For a guy who says he doesn't waste energy worrying about what people think of him, it seems as if he does nothing but worry about it. Buy a pair of freaking earplugs and stop reading the paper, will ya, fella.
And there's your answer, Don. They'll act jerks.
Besides, he said "can't" not "don't."

So what happens if the guy goes out and has a bad game? What then? If there's anything that I can't understand about McNabb's tenure in Philly, it's the mental state of the McCheerleaders when #5 has a less than stellar game....Sure, it's easy to get behind the guy when he blows it up, but those momments have become less and less frequent as the years move on. How long do you stay in the corner of guy who constantly seems to mail it in? Are you Eagles fans or McNabb fans?

I think it's worth noting that when McNabb made those comments he had a smile on his face. This wasn't a guy crying at the podium, he actually seemed to have a clear perspective on it all.
BigMYC: When you say McNabb "constantly seems to mail it in", I think you're just wrong. You can criticize McNabb's accuracy at times, you can say he holds the ball too long sometimes, but I don't think he mails it in. Speaking for McNabb defenders, let me put it this way: On his best days, McNabb carries the team to extraordinary effect. On his worst days, he doesn't lose the game. You can't say that about most QBs. That's someone you can win with.
