Yes, it's an appropriate send up of the greatest post season collapse in Cowboy history.
But you're wrong to have dumped this one of Romo.
Recall that previous tale of the tape I sent you to earlier in the season, well they did a similar one for the Giants game.
And what it revealed was something utterly unique for the Cowboys this year.
ALL YEAR LONG the Cowboys have made teams pay who blitzed them.
The Eagles in the 2d matchup were the only team to present a novelty that complicated the reads, and thwarted their offense.
So against the Giants the other day they blitzed, but whereas usually the Cowboy receivers looked back to Romo for a hot read, in this game, ALL OF THEM CONSISTENTLY IGNORED their QB, who was running for his life back in the pocket.
THAT was part of the reason why T.O. was crying. He knew, {the pictures the assistant coaches showed them on the sideline} that the receivers weren't making the mental adjustments that they made all through the season, and it cost them dearly.
Another thing.
It seems WADE instructed Jason Garrett to run the ball much more.
So whereas before the Cowboys ran to set up a running game in the 2d half, this time they went the traditional route of running to set up the pass. But a funny thing happened on the way to the NFC Championship game, they wore down their own offensive line. And what's more, they wore down their own back. Barber never carried the ball more than 25 times a game all year, and in this game, where he had to earn just about every yard he got, he was plum tuckered out at the end of it.
Not to mention the Cowboys committed another blunder, and this one wasn't on Romo.
T.O. is clearly one of the foremost playmakers in the league.
Far and away superior to Moss, who can't go over the middle, and can't break a tackle.
But because of T.O. ankle injury, he needed some help breaking clear of the line, so instead of getting him in frequent motion, and instead of getting him in trips packages, where he's coming off almost behind a screen, they had him lined up out there where he had to fight his way into his route, and whereas a normal T.O. wouldn't have found that difficult, the other day it was just sufficiently bothersome to affect their routes.
THAT'S ON GARRETT.
That's NOT T.O.
That's NOT Romo.
I put that loss on Garrett.
And what's more, NOBODY seems to have asked him any questions about that game. Garrett's been asked about his conversations with the Ravens. He's been asked about his conversations with the Falcons. Hell, he's even been asked about his conversations with Jones.
BUT HE'S NOT been asked about his play-calling in the greatest postseason collapse in Dallas history.
I'd say that was passing strange, albeit not as strange as was the passing attack against the Giants.
Aikman was saying all game long that the center was open and vulnerable to a midrange passing attack.
Yet they never exploited it.
Is ANYBODY going to grill Garrett about his play-calling?
Or are we all just to bow down and worship unthinkingly and uncritically the new "boy genius" of the NFL.
The Cowboy defense held the Giants to 7 2d half points, and the 2d half was THE decisive half of that football game.
Yet that wasn't enough for the hottest offense in the NFC to handle.
What was that about?
The Giants were just waiting to get beaten. They had the demeanor of a team that had their excuses ready.
Bizarre.
A bizarre December for the Cowboys.
ANY TEAM who thinks you can mail it in throughout December in the NFL, and thinks they can just flick a switch come playoff time, had better go back and watch tape of the Cowboys '07/'08 season.
And get disabused of that insanity fast.
As for Der Fuhrer, he'd have had 'em all shot. Every single one of 'em, just for pissing him off. Of course he and Stalin, as well as Mao, were awfully keen on having people shot.

Ah, I just liked the part where he ordered all the Giants fans to leave the room. But, alas, "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Constantin Film."
