Here's a Question
Would the amount of new material local sportswriters had to work with if Andy gave more expansive press conferences be enough to cancel out all those 800 word columns on how Andy doesn't talk enough?
Net-net, I think it's close.

It amazes me that in nine years, the sportswriters in this town still haven't figured out that Andy Reid doesn't care what they think. Most likely, he doesn't care what the fans think. Nor should he. All he has to do is win football games and keep Jeff Lurie happy. I'm a reporter so I understand where they're coming from; it's no fun covering guys who are no fun. But given the choice between Buddy Ryan, who was always good for a quote and "got" this city versus Andy Reid, who's won two-thirds of his games while playing to the Big Red Buddha, I'll take Reid every time.

When I read that article this morning my first thought was, what a whinny pain in the @*%^! I guarantee you that this guy would be one of the first to crucify Andy if something he said to the media was construed as providing even a slight competitive advantage to an opponent. And even worse, he would then hold Bill Bilichik over the Eagles head (again) and repeat the mantra - just be like the Pats (again).
All Andy has done to this point is win more games than any coach in team history. But hell, who cares about winning - right?

Does John Smallwood get put on the Eckel List?

Nah, there's a difference between a guy who's momentarily out of column ideas and a guy who's just a plain old jerk.
