Bonus Akers Coverage
I didn't stick this in the rewind last night, but since I'd already recorded it and everyone's talking about Akers today, take a look at this shot of the second field goal he missed. Watch how the flags at the top of the goalposts are blowing hard from left to right just until the moment of the kick, when the wind suddenly dies.
You still have to make 'em -- and maybe aiming for the middle would help -- but that's just bizarre.

Did somebody close a door or something?? That is really odd...literally as the ball is snapped the wind dies. Hmmm...Windgate?

Nice find, well it looks like the guy was kicking according to the information he got from those flags. The flags stopped moving after the snap of the ball by this time he is looking at the ball spot and into his kicking motion. He did not see the flags stop, I guess he was just unfortunate. Seemed like the wind deceived him.
The Eagles' woes on Sunday night may have verified Murphy's Law.

I still should have made it, but it was unfortunate. I kick with a natural draw (as a left-footer, my balls go left to right). But oon a 47 yarder with that type of wind, I still aimed right of center because that wind can change the direction about 10 feet (wheare my draw changes it about 4 feet). However, as you can see, the ball draws about 4 feet and the wind doesn't hold it at all.
I still have plenty of leg (that had the distance for a 60 yarder), and I'm looking forward to redeeming myself during the rest of the season.

Well, isn't that something.
David, I too am looking forward to you redeeming yourself during the rest of this season. Good luck.

Amen to that! We all still believe in ya Dave!
Hey, you put a pretty good lick on Devin Hester too. That didn't go unnoticed :)
Good luck this season!

Grow back the mustache - it was the source of your power! :)
Seriously, you guys had some bad luck in Chicago (as evidenced by that 47 yarder) not to mention the injuries. Disappointing, but it's time to move on.
Just focus on the Redskins now and bring home our first division win on Sunday.

Dave,
Don't think your improved leg strength has gone unnoticed. It's no coincidence that your kickoffs are making it into the endzone about 50% of the time now, as opposed to only about 10% of the time in previous seasons. And I've heard Merrill comment on numerous occasions that you regularly hit 60 yard FG in before game practice.
Unfortunately, for whatever reason your 40-50 yard accuracy has been way off for over a year now. Alot of us think your accuracy hasn't really been the same since your injury a couple seasons ago.
I know that a good portion kicking is mental, and I hope you can get your swagger back. You obviously still have the leg to be an elite kicker in this league. now, we just need you to regain your confidence.
BTW, I've personally always loved seeing you tackle a returner that has broken lose on a kickoff. Its hard to celebrate when the other team returns the ball 30 yards, but you deserve a pat on the back for all the hard hitting open field tackles you've make over the years that have saved TDs. You sure bring the wood, and not just for a kicker.

Tell them about P-90x David. My wife uses it and was pretty psyched when she saw you on that site. I know it has done a lot for her strength, and apparently that and other routines has done quiet a bit for yours. The plyometrics tape is a pain!

I enjoyed David getting into a scuffle with the Giants' sideline a few years back.
