Week Six Picks
Remember the days when the Eagles were the only game in town? The Phillies were mediocre, the Sixers sucked, and I'm not sure hockey was even played for a few years. Plus, Penn State seemed perpetually headed in the wrong direction.
Now? The Phillies are two wins from the World Series, the Sixers are definitely in the mix in the East, Penn State should be #4 #3 by tomorrow and I'm pretty sure hockey is against taking place.
Lot of things change.
Also, thanks to all the people who've emailed me the Sports Guy's weird rant against Andy Reid. I will be writing about it.
Picks after the jump.
Sunday
CAR @ TB (-1.5)
Tampa Bay makes way too much sense here not to pick Carolina.
STL @ WAS (-13)
The Rams haven't lost a game by fewer than 17 points all year and the NFC East is rolling. So of course I'm picking the Rams.
CIN @ NYJ (-6)
Cincy sucks. Not outsmarting myself with every pick this week.
OAK @ NO (-7.5)
The Louisianans gonna be angry after last week's inexplicable loss.
MIA @ HOU (-3)
If Houston loses this game, a couple of my friends might kill themselves. I'd like that not to happen.
CHI (-2.5) @ ATL
Coin flip game. In which I literally flipped a coin. Atlanta came up tails.
DET @ MIN (-13)
The Vikings don't blow people out.
BAL @ IND (-4)
Too many points for that late-game improbably winning field goal Manning will put up.
JAX @ DEN (-3.5)
Jacksonville. About time for the pendulum to swing back on these guys.
PHI (-4.5) @ SF
No Westbrook. No Curtis. No Andrews. No Brown. I'll take a one-point win, please.
DAL (-5) @ ARZ
In which Dalls gets its groove back.
GB @ SEA (-2)
Coin flip game #2. Green Bay had heads.
NE @ SD (-5.5)
Vengeance game for San Diego.
Monday
NYG (-8) @ CLE
Would love to see the wheels start falling off here. But still, that's a lot of points.
NY 24 - Cle 20

weird rant?
i thought sg was spot on, reid is a very overrated coach, and his team has never been able to hang with squads with winning records

Wow, just a 1-point win prediction for the Birds?
Let me give you some SF perspective: This is a BAD 49ers team out here. They have horrible lines on both sides of the ball, a backup-quality starting QB, a #6 pick overall bust at TE (Vernon Davis), WRs that make ours look like All-Pros and exactly 3 good players: Frank Gore (who's suffering behind a bad o-line), Patrick Willis (a tackling machine, yes, but he has to be) and Andy Lee (the punter - enough said). They barely beat a Seattle team that, due to injuries, sent out its JV squad a couple of weeks ago. And it's not a question of if, but rather when, HC Mike Nolan is fired.
So yes, we have key injuries, but we still should beat SF handily, especially after the "players-only" meeting held. Anything less than a 10-point victory says to me we're not playoff-caliber.

Still not convinced that this mythical hockey exists...pretty sure it's an extinct species.
Seriously, if the Flyers won the Cup would it even count as the championship streak being broken? I mean we didn't count the Phantoms or the Wings when they won titles, the Flyers are basically in the same class in my mind.
