Excellent Summation
Yep:
Look around the NFL. The team with the best record in the AFC, Tennessee, has Kerry Collins starting at QB. Collins is on his fifth NFL team. The Titans' first loss of the season was doled out Sunday by the New York Jets' Brett Favre - who has found new life after a full career and twilight in Green Bay.
This week's Eagles opponent, Arizona, is 7-4 with Kurt Warner (third NFL team) at quarterback. Tampa Bay is 8-3 and in the playoff hunt with Jeff Garcia, who is with his fifth NFL team.
There is every reason to believe McNabb can go somewhere else and thrive, especially if he finds a situation with a balanced offense and a good defense. Changing cities will mean shedding all the baggage and all the history, good and bad, that is attached to him here.
It comes down to this: McNabb will have a better chance to step in and win somewhere else in 2009 than Reid and the Eagles will have of returning to serious contention right away without him.
He goes on to list all the reasons why.
And no, this wasn't the "more" I mentioned.
All the reasons why I'd much rather have Donovan stay and show Reid the exit door and a bring in a new gm/coach (preferably two people). I don't mean this in a bash-Reid kind of way; I think much like Donovan, he too will resurface somewhere else and be successful.
I'd just rather pull the plug on the coach/gm than the QB. I know the odds on that are considerably long, but that's my personal preference.

Hit the nail on the head...there isn't much else to say except for a quick thank you to McNabb for all the good times and good luck...except not against us.
I have a feeling Reid won't be gone just yet and will be given the chance to "rebuild" this team. Like it has been said before, the upcoming draft is probably the most important draft for the Eagles to date, at least since I can remember, and if Reid screws it up they will have to sneak him out of town on a midnight train.

There needs to be a little shakeup in the front office though. Someone needs to have a bigger say outside of Heckert or Reid as to who the very, very important two first round picks will be.

I agree with xtianDC.
Call me old-school, but I'm tired of the GM/Head Coach combo. The argument that "the cook should get to pick the ingredients" isn't a bad one, but that dynamic sets up way too many conflicts.
When the players aren't feelin' the love from the perceived lack of dollars or lack or contract years, let them get upset at the guy in the office; not the guy that's standing on the sideline imploring them to play through the pain.

Much like when Sir Charles was shipped off to Phoenix and I became a dual Sixers/Suns fan, wherever 5 ends up shall receive some fan support from me as well.
In that regard, while everyone would point to Chicago and Minny as 5's next stop, might I suggest another location: Tennessee.
Think about it: Kerry Collins is about to turn 36 and while they're obviously winning, unlike Kurt Warner, he's not exactly setting the world on fire (QB rating of 81.9, throwing for just 180 yds/game).
Meanwhile, Vince Young seems finished in the league after his "no mas" moment.
And you have an excellent coach in Jeff Fisher who - hold on to you hats here - knows how to adjust things to fit his personnel.
Finally, from an Eagles perspective, shipping him off to the AFC is much preferable to sending him to an NFC team.
So here's hoping that if 5 is the one to go, it's on to Tennessee ("Touchdown Titans!").

What's funny about that is that when Vince came into the league, Andy seemed to loooooooove him.
Make it a package deal :)

I think I heard the other day that the Titans intend on re-signing Kerry. And I also heard a few weeks back they said if they re-signed Kerry that he would compete for the job with Vince.
