I feel -- with no evidence to support this -- like Carey's crew calls a lot of penalties. That's actually a factor today with the Giants' running game. You say block, I say hold.
I know Eli doesn't have the same kind of arm as McNabb, but his fluttering passes that first possession showed that the wind's going to be a HUGE factor in the passing game.
Captain Obvious, I know, but it bears repeating methinks.
I LOVE THIS DEFENSE!
This is what I imagined them turning into at some point in the year when after the LB promotions and free-agency.
Just awesome.
The swagger in an away game is great to watch.
they look horrible...safties...ten yards on offense...i bleed green as much as the next philly fan but they look like crap right now if they dont do something soon they are in for a loss and it would be great for the city to get a damn ring tho
That safety actually might end up being a break for us - Sav did a great job on the free kick. If he had to punt out of the endzone, they might have ended up starting inside our 40 on this drive.
Here's a crazy thought. What if Jim Johnson isn't in the booth because of _his_ defense, but because Reid wants his help in breaking down the _Giants'_ defense?
No one would know the Giants' scheme better than the guy who invented it.
Throwing the ball "low and with extra velocity"?
Is that really something we want to see out of Don?

#$%^!

Geez, what is Lito Sheppard doing as a wedgebuster?
Dude got planted.
Posted by: Derek | January 11, 2009 at 01:07 PM
Wow - kinda windy there, eh?
Posted by: Eagles Fan in San Fran | January 11, 2009 at 01:08 PM
Excellent spot, ref!

Well, that sucked, but at least Akers remains one of the best tackling kickers in the league.
Posted by: Derek | January 11, 2009 at 01:15 PM
Yeah, we're minus-three on points into the wind. That sucks.
Posted by: Derek | January 11, 2009 at 01:16 PM
Oh, s$%^ - who would be Akers backup?
Posted by: Eagles Fan in San Fran | January 11, 2009 at 01:17 PM
No no, you're supposed to ignore Buck all game, _then_ call his number in the third quarter after they've forgotten about him.
Posted by: Derek | January 11, 2009 at 01:20 PM
So Rocca still can't handle the wind. Argh.
Posted by: Derek | January 11, 2009 at 01:22 PM
And then he RAN OVER MANNING.
THANKS ELI!!
Posted by: Derek | January 11, 2009 at 01:25 PM
We need seven here. Three is not enough.
Posted by: Derek | January 11, 2009 at 01:26 PM
McNabb needs to run this in!
Posted by: Eagles Fan in San Fran | January 11, 2009 at 01:27 PM
Nice call, EF.
Posted by: Derek | January 11, 2009 at 01:31 PM
OK - I was out on the roof after the opening kickoff, now I'm leaning back in my comfy chair, enjoying life again.
Posted by: Eagles Fan in San Fran | January 11, 2009 at 01:31 PM
I think Im warming up to this Asante guy.
Posted by: MSE69 | January 11, 2009 at 01:31 PM
Is Justice starting today or is he in for a goal line package?
Posted by: MSE69 | January 11, 2009 at 01:32 PM
Eagles seem to have a good key on the running game today. Safeties are moving pre-snap.
Posted by: Derek | January 11, 2009 at 01:33 PM
real chippy already
Posted by: thom | January 11, 2009 at 01:35 PM
No stupid penalties today, please. Jordan almost picked one up there.
Posted by: PhillyFriar | January 11, 2009 at 01:35 PM
"Chippy" - just the way we like it!
Posted by: Eagles Fan in San Fran | January 11, 2009 at 01:35 PM
Yeah, a lot of penalties from this crew...
Posted by: Derek | January 11, 2009 at 01:38 PM
And right after I say that... Considine with a stupid block in the back (not exactly what I was warning against, but still frustrating).
Posted by: PhillyFriar | January 11, 2009 at 01:38 PM
Has any team ever cut a guy during a game before, because 37 just needs to go away already!
Posted by: Eagles Fan in San Fran | January 11, 2009 at 01:39 PM
these refs will not let the players decide this game ......... they want a part of it.
this crew is like that ...........you watch
Posted by: thom | January 11, 2009 at 01:40 PM
If we have to punt early on this drive, we want to do it with the wind. I hope the coaches are watching that.
Posted by: Derek | January 11, 2009 at 01:40 PM
Speaking of guys who just need to go away - no more Rutgers grads, please!
Posted by: Eagles Fan in San Fran | January 11, 2009 at 01:41 PM
Thanks for continuing to bail out Sav's poor punts guys!
Posted by: Derek | January 11, 2009 at 01:43 PM
OK, my bad - had no idea 37 is the leading ST-er.
He can stay, but LJ still has to go.
Posted by: Eagles Fan in San Fran | January 11, 2009 at 01:44 PM
now we will see what they have planned and what happens in the wind !!!!!!!!!!??????????
Posted by: thom | January 11, 2009 at 01:46 PM
Gocong just went up 10 points in every Eagles' fan's book.
Posted by: Derek | January 11, 2009 at 01:48 PM
I can tell you who isn't the leading STer. Lito Sheppard.
Try holding that block another second, man.

The Giants talked s*** all week and now they look surprised that the Eagles are giving it back to 'em.
Man, I dislike that team.
Posted by: Derek | January 11, 2009 at 01:51 PM
Wasn't he hit when he threw that? How can you call grounding when the guy gets hit?
Posted by: Derek | January 11, 2009 at 01:53 PM
He was f*@&ing getting hit! Him getting spun around took all the velocity off the ball!
Jesus these refs want to put their stamp on the game.
Posted by: PhillyFriar | January 11, 2009 at 01:54 PM
Who the hell is Tracy White?
Posted by: MSE69 | January 11, 2009 at 01:55 PM

Jesus Christ, Mike Carey, let them play!
Posted by: PhillyFriar | January 11, 2009 at 01:59 PM
Tracy White is the guy the Eagles picked up when they cut Tony Hunt.
Mike Carey is playing extremely true to form today.
Posted by: Derek | January 11, 2009 at 01:59 PM
Linebackers are getting attacked in coverage today. Giants aren't dumb.
Posted by: Derek | January 11, 2009 at 02:00 PM
Oh my God... is that someone missing a field goal against the Eagles?
Quick, everyone prepare for the apocalypse.
Posted by: PhillyFriar | January 11, 2009 at 02:05 PM
That was BIG. The last thing our offense needs right now is to start pressing because they're down.
Posted by: Derek | January 11, 2009 at 02:06 PM
C'mon, we're the Ravens of the NFC!!!
It's destiny, man, we're going win this thing, somehow, someway!
Posted by: Eagles Fan in San Fran | January 11, 2009 at 02:07 PM
Celek couldn't block Tuck once if you gave him 10 chances.
