Possession Receiver?

I was meandering around the Internet yesterday and I came across something a lot of Philly fans should read right now:
T.J. Houshmandzadeh was on 950-ESPN radio in Philadelphia this morning talking about free agency...
We don’t know what’s happening yet with Plaxico Burress or Amani Toomer, but I’m not sure the Giants are looking for a 31-year-old possession receiver at this point. They already have Steve Smith on the roster who’s got ability, so it’s probably smarter to spend on a deep threat that’s capable of hauling in jump balls.
The "possession receiver" tag kind of jumped out at me. He certainly didn't look like a move-the-chains guy when he tore up our secondary earlier this year. But it turns out it's a pretty apt description, at least statistically. You have to go all the way to the fifth page before you'll find him on this list. Compare his career numbers to Chad Johnson's and, yeah, it's a noticeable difference.
And it seems to me you could probably replace the words "Steve Smith" with "Jason Avant" in the above paragraph and keep the meaning pretty close.
(Not that that description was original, it turns out.)
