That Should Cheer Him Up

Posted by Derek

If you had Stacy Andrews in the office pool -- and I did not -- pat yourself on the back:

A league source tells PFT that tackle Stacy Andrews has agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Eagles.

More to come.

Three immediate questions:

  1. How's his knee?
  2. Is this a real deal or a one-year "prove it" contract?
  3. Did the Eagles get a "fraternal discount"?

All that crap I said yesterday about how we should look at exactly where the Eagles' holes are and I talked myself out of a right tackle. Argh.

UPDATE: PFT on SN is now reporting some numbers:

Per the source, it's a multi-year deal averaging $7 million per season.

At this point, the structure of the contract isn't known as it relates to guaranteed money.  Andrews suffered a torn ACL late in the 2008 season, and it might have prompted the Eagles to defer any large payments until March 2010, after Andrews proves that he is 100 percent.

The deal hinges on Andrews passing a physical.

Until we find out the structure -- which could take awhile, since the Eagles aren't typically gabby -- we won't know what kind of deal this is.
