All You Need To Know About Lorenzo Booker

One of the guys over at Wingheads noticed the Eagles have updated their "unofficial" depth chart. With the usual caveat that there's a certain amount of fiction in these things this time of year -- so, really, you don't have to point that out in the comments, we get it -- we can still learn some things if we look closely.
The biggest takeaway is that Lorenzo Booker is officially in the doghouse. As a general rule, rookies start at the bottom, even when everyone knows they're not going to end up that way in September. For example, Jeremy Maclin isn't even listed at the wide receiver position, which repeats the tradition from last year with DeSean.
But not so much at the running back position, where LeSean McCoy has immediately been slotted ahead of Booker, without so much as a single practice in pads.
I realize MJG's ankle isn't going to be 100% any time soon, but Nick Cole has clearly moved ahead of him in the Eagles' eyes. It's the backup RG spot that matters right now, and that's Cole's. MJG's been moved over to the left side.
Other thoughts:
- It sure wouldn't be easy rooting for a guy named "Dallas"
- Chris Patrick is currently third-string at both right and left tackle. Unusual if only because they could cram another name on there.
- Iguana's not listed anywhere. Can you say "wake up call"?
- Just going off a quick count, it looks like you can get to 53 and keep 10 DL if you go with 4 RBs, PUP MJG to start the season, and show Reggie Brown and Winston Justice off to greener pastures.
Overall, I'm probably overlooking some things, but it actually looks to me like final cuts are going to be easier this year. It's strange, because the roster looks really deep, but with all the veterans they let go in free agency, it doesn't look like there are going to be any Andy Studebaker types we really don't want to see go but can't find a place for on the roster.
