The Blocking TE Discussion Takes The Next Step

Posted by Derek

As we've discussed before, now that the Eagles have more WRs than they know what to do with -- and please Andy, don't keep six of them on the roster this year just because you don't like the offers -- and a legitimate backup running back, the current fan obsession has shifted to the mythical creature (around these parts) known as the blocking tight end.

If you're tracking the story at home, note that we've currently hit phase three:

Phase 1:  A few fans point out, independently, that having a player at Position X could be helpful.

Phase 2:  A much larger group of fan ramps this up into, "WE NEED A POSITION X TO WIN THE SUPER BOWL."

Phase 3:  The backlash begins.

Phase 4:  The backlash to the backlash.  Which should emerge just about the time Celek blows his first short-yardage block next September.
