If The Games Are Starting ...

... it must be time for NFL blogs to start swapping posts.

Todays' post comes from Bruce at PatriotsDaily.com.  If you head over there, you'll see my parallel contribution to their site.

While the story of Eagles training camp seems to be injuries, for the Patriots the main storyline has been the recovery of Tom Brady, and whether he's going to be back to his MVP self once the season begins. It's still a little up in the air right now as to whether he is going to play in this game, though the signs seem to indicate that you'll see him out there for at least a series or two. Brady has yet to miss a single practice session of training camp, as he's been working on getting his timing back and getting used to the bulky knee brace he is now sporting.

So it seems the Eagles have had their issues with injuries at wide receiver. (Oh, thanks for sending Greg Lewis to us, by the way. Bill Belichick says he's been trying to get Andy Reid to trade Lewis to the Patriots for years.) If you're scouting for potential pickups, here's a tip for Eagles fans - keep an eye on #10 Terrence Nunn for the Patriots. He's been catching everything in camp, and with a numbers game seemingly working against him at the moment, he might be available after cutdown day. Rookie Julian Edelman, a college QB from Kent State being turned into a WR  is another guy to keep an eye on.

Looking at the Eagles roster, I see a number of old friends. Asante Samuel and Ellis Hobbs chief among them. Some Patriots fans have a bit of a bad taste in their mouths for both of them, thanks to the final drive in Super Bowl XLII. You see, Samuel had an easy interception sail through his hands on that drive, and Hobbs left Plaxico Burress wide open in the end zone for the winning TD. But we're not bitter or anything. I will say this - Hobbs is an electric kick returner. Maybe the best in the NFL. You're going to love watching him return kicks this season.

Kyle Eckel - did you know that The Boston Globe once ran a feature "expose" story on how he finished at the bottom of his class at Navy? No joke. Did you know that Dan Klecko and Samuel were both fourth round picks of the Patriots in the same year? Klecko was taken three picks ahead of Samuel, if you can believe that.

Enjoy the game.
