For Those Who Believe In Jinxes
Posted by BountyBowl
I mean, sure, I think the Eagles are going to win tonight too, but surely there must be some sort of elaborate jinxing in progress due to the local and national blathertariat going heavy with the Eagles. All seven Daily News writers and all six FoxSports.com guys are picking the Birds to win?
I usually scan these sorts of lists looking for potential enemies of freedom (where "enemies of freedom" = those who refuse to admit the general awesomeness of the Eagles), but it appears our efforts at reeducation have been successful. Either that, or beating the paint out off the Giants is a fairly persuasive argument for the team's quality.
In other news, I've happened into some semi-last-minute tickets for tonight's game, which I believe will be the first time I've seen the Dallas Cowboys in person. Huge hole in my resume, I know. Very excited to get that closed this evening, on what should be a beautiful night for football. Also, it's worth noting that earlier in the week -- weary from the World Series, I suppose -- I had announced that I was staying home for this game. The lesson here, of course, is that I am a weak, weak man w/r/t Eagles tickets.
Some other random early-game notes:
- Seeing those retro Creamsicle costumes on the Bucs (let the Josh Freeman era begin!) makes me long for late 80s throwback day at the Linc. We need to see the current players in the Kelly green just once.
- Yes yes, I was a jerk for mocking Temple attendance a couple weeks ago. Is it cool if we make fun of the empty seats in Jacksonville? What a disaster.
- Very bummed that I missed the Redskins - Falcons fight, though football fights tend to disappoint. You stay classy, DeAngelo Hall.
- Of course Kris Brown missed the kick for the Texans against the Colts. Of course.
- Also, I was pretty convinced that Westbrook would play tonight. The early reports say no. Huh. Guess we'll know soon enough.
