On The Road Again

Posted by Derek

About to head out for a seven (eight?  nine?) hour car ride with the little one.  Wish me luck.

Two things today:

1)  Not everyone thinks Eagles' fans are trolls.

Good write-up of the Linc on this site devoted to doing profiles of stadiums across the country.  The dreaded disconnected upper level got me the first time I was there.

2)  Is Westbrook actually missing his burst?

Not sure I'm totally seeing the same thing:

Two concussions cost Westbrook seven of the eight games that preceded Sunday's win. However, it wasn't - and isn't - his head that has cost him the burst that made him a Pro Bowl talent in 2004 and 2007.

It is the ankle, on which he had surgery in June. That cost him training camp, the preseason and Game 3 of this season, all before the concussions occurred.

The past 2 months might have given the ankle more time to heal, but it hasn't been appreciably strengthened, since part of the prescription for concussion recovery is total rest.

I'm sure he's not 100 percent, but Westbrook has looked pretty darn frisky to me all year, when he's actually able to get on the field.  I think he's the key to not just this game, but the whole next month or so.

The biggest question is how you use him.  Do you just play him as a starting running back, and get him his touches organically within the offense?  Or do you instead treat him as a "weapon" to whom you can only go so many times a game, so you better a) set him up and b) make those touches count by taking some shots.  I'm not sure we wouldn't be better served by Option B.
